PIERRE JACOB WILL NOT SEEK A SECOND MANDATE

COWANSVILLE – NDP MP Pierre Jacob (Brome – Missisquoi) has decided not to seek a second mandate in the federal election scheduled for fall 2015.

“It was a difficult decision,” said Jacob. “I enjoy my work as an MP. Meeting people, helping them find solutions to their problems, advancing regional files – this is important work which I’ve always done with tremendous pride.”

“Unfortunately I am currently fighting an illness and need to focus my time and energy on getting well.”

“I will complete my mandate as MP for Brome – Missisquoi but my doctors have advised me to rest. I’ll need to slow down, which is incompatible with an electoral campaign.”

“I would like to thank everyone who has offered their support in recent months. I would also like to thank my leader Tom Mulcair for the confidence he showed in me by appointing me to the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights.”

The riding offices in Magog and Cowansville will continue to offer excellent service to constituents.

“I will remain an active NDP supporter and wish the best of luck to whoever wins the NDP nomination for Brome – Missisquoi,” concluded Jacob.
